“I would take three steps and became exhausted,” said the Norwalk resident. “That’s why my life was like for many years.”
After various traditional medicine cures didn’t work, Lew sought out alternative treatments. First she changed her diet, becoming a vegan (and temporarily a raw vegan), and then she discovered Vibrosaun, a pod (reminiscent of the "Mork from Ork" egg with your head sticking out) developed in Australia that delivers user-controlled sauna-like heat and vibration therapy.
Popular Down Under and across Europe for 30 years, Lew happened upon the only Vibrosaun distributor in the United States in Brewster, N.Y., and felt she had nothing to lose in trying it.
“I started going,” Lew said, “and the first few times I was in it, I could feel something happening. Then one day after a session I was able to fall asleep on my own for the first time in years.”
The heat and vibration therapy claims many benefits, including: increasing blood and lymph circulation, reducing aches and pains, promoting faster muscle recovery, improving overall relaxation and sleep quality, facilitating toxin release and even assisting in weight loss.
In fact, Lew felt so much better that when her husband wanted to start a juice bar business, she suggested it include a Vibrosaun.
“I believe so much in what the Virbrosaun did for me,” said Lew. “I thought if it can help me, then I know it can help other people.
“I’m not taking any medication now and I’m back to work. Compared to where I was 10 years ago, I never would have believed it possible."
Norwalk’s Kure Spa – including the juice bar, massage therapy, Pulsed Electromagnetic Therapy and two Vibrosauns – was born in November 2014. Business has been so good since that Kure Spa is currently expanding into space next door to its Main Avenue spot in Norwalk.
“The combinations of therapies we offer do wonders for our clients,” said Lew. “I don’t know any other place that can combine these types of therapies.”
While a Vibrosaun experience may not be for everyone and results will vary, Lew maintains that the worst anyone will feel after a treatment is relaxed.
“Our clients say they’re so relaxed,” said Lew. “They have such a look of bliss on their faces when they walk out.”
